About ASC

What is Tribes

It is not a new subject or a list of activities but a “process”, a way to establish a positive environment that promotes human growth and learning.

Our aim is to establish a safe and caring environment in our school where:

Tribes Agreements

Tribes aims to create a culture that maximises learning and human development.

Tribes is not a curriculum, nor a program or list of activities. It is a “process” – a way to establish a positive culture for learning and human development throughout a school community.

The process involves us all in making five agreements. They are:

1. Appreciations, No Put Downs
Students are shown how to give meaningful appreciations to others and agree not to use put downs.

2. The Right to Pass
In group situations, if a person feels unsure or unsafe joining in an activity then there will be no compulsion to do so.

3. Attentive Listening
Students are taught how to listen, not only with their ears but with their eyes and heart.

4. Mutual Respect
Respect for each others’ feelings, ideas and thoughts is crucial in our community.

5. Personal Best
Doing the best you can do in everything you do is also crucial in our community.

The Mission of a Tribes School is:

to assure the healthy development of every child so that each has the knowledge, skills and resiliency to be successful in a rapidly changing world.

Student's learning and development is influenced by the key systems of their lives - family, school, community.

The Goal for a Tribes School is:

to engage all teachers, administrators, students, and families in working together as a learning community that is dedicated to caring and support, active participation, and positive expectations for all students.
