Teaching and Learning

Curriculum Overview

The College Council is responsible for the development of Curriculum Policy, within guidelines established by the Department of Education and the staff are responsible for the provision of programs to achieve the Council's policies.

Curriculum Profile

The Curriculum has been organised to ensure that all students have access to, and complete studies, in each of the Key Learning Areas, and to allow the widest possible choice within these areas.

Advocacy

The Advocacy program has been introduced to allow for a more substantial link between students and staff in a more pastoral care situation. A staff member will be responsible for 20 students. They will meet before classes each day and for one period per week. Advocates will be responsible for all matters pertaining to the welfare and discipline of student, parental contact, reporting etc. The ultimate aim of the program is to develop a relationship between a staff member and a group of students, which will enhance the positive learning environment and provide strategies for students to cope with a myriad of issues and face them in education today.
